I Want to Talk Books

Recent Reads...

I've recently read Franny and Zooey, Room With A View, Breakfast at Tiffany's (seen the movie countless times, though never actually read the book), and have started The Sound and the Fury. It's an interesting book, though I haven't gotten my teeth completely into it yet (just finished the Benji part). The nonlinear chronology and italics make it slightly confusing to follow at times, but I'll get used to it :)

Finally finished The Sound and the Fury yesterday! It took a while because of college and whatnot, but it was a great read. Complicated, and very interesting. Looking to start a new book, haven't quite decided what yet...

"Franny and Zoey" is, quite literally, a masterpiece. Seymour, their genius brother, is also in the dark and tragic short story "A Good Day for Bananafish," and he is explored in depth in the best of all of Salinger's books, "Raise High the Roofbeams, Carpenters." Why Salinger is best known for "The Catcher in the Rye," is a mystery to me, for his best works are definitely "Franny..." and "Raise High..." I implore you to read these epic writings by a man who had immense talent and a beautiful way of getting big ideas across.
Hope your exams went well. read good stuff, read often, and become our next great author.
