I wonder how much peacocks would sell for?

Thinking if I had some land in the country they would be good to raise & sell. Heard they’ll tear up a garden but I’d have raised beds so maybe not.
Raising peacocks would be like hosting a choir of gorgeous people who couldn’t carry a tune in a tin bucket.

Our neighbours had some.Out in the country their like chickens.So not expensive.
We almost got some for free.
They make this terrible noise that sounds like a lady saying "help me".
One time our neighbours peacock got loose and took a crap on our car after climbing it😖

@SW-User A lady told me everyone that visited wanted to pick up the feathers & take them for free, she tried selling them and nobody wanted to pay $ for them...not what she was asking anyway.

@cherokeepatti People are cheap.
The feathers are beautiful and very much something desired.
Even here people prize the feathers.
So the price for then is worth it.

@SW-User They’ve sold them at Pier I and Hobby Lobby for several dollars a feather, thinking it was $4 each back a couple decades ago.

I’ve heard they have a mean personality. But they are beautiful. And “peacock blue” is one of my favorite colors.

@SmartKat I don’t think they would be as mean as some chickens my ex-husband had in the 70’s...one hen called a Warlord jumped on my back and flogged me when I had it turned going the other way when I accidentally went around the corner of the house where she was at with her chicks.

@SmartKat The green ones are very beautiful too.

They're beautiful, but they can be a handful. A friend kept them. They can be aggressive in mating season, they will disturb gardens.Hers would escape and roam the neighborhood.
They are good 'watch dogs' They screech when they become alarmed.

@cherokeepatti @cercisflowertoo The last ones I saw were in a public park and they were behaving themselves well, they weren't doing anything like that.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@NankerPhelge They like to strut around and show off and watch the pea hens. Hard life but someone has to live it.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti I know that, there's nothing wrong with that. That's just nature.
Wol62 · 51-55, M
Well have you researched the market for them?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Wol62 No not lately
Wol62 · 51-55, M
@cherokeepatti 😂Good luck with your venture.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Wol62 I would have to have some land out in the country before I could do anything. Imagine having a screaming peacock in the neighborhood & people calling the police about it.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
I don't know, I'll have a guess. £153 each.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@NankerPhelge I know there are a lot of different variations of peacocks...lots of colors.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti I haven't actually seen any since 1988. They are beautiful creatures.
