What was your first pet like?

Mine was a dog, Kimo. He was a standard American Eskimo (no jokes about the name. I was six when we got him). He was a really patient and affectionate dog. He was pretty smart too. He just sort of knew when someone was in a bad mood. He always managed to cheer me up when I was sad. Unfortunately, I lost Kimo when he was still pretty young. He was hit by a car when I was in fifth grade. Still miss him.

my second dog was a male and he also got hit by a car. males always want to leave home and go explore. he would always find a way to run away from home to go explore and chase females. I had a female dog before him, a scotch collie, she was so smart and never ran away from home, died of cancer at around 14. my last dog was also a female and she lived 20 years, I had her put to sleep because she had lost all quality of life but she also never ran away from home. the first two were family dogs from when I lived with my parents, the last one was mine. I miss her a lot.

@reflectingmonkey Kimo was actually hit by a car outside our house. My house doesn’t have a yard so we have to walk their dogs around to the back of the houses where there was a forest to let them do their business. Unfortunately, my old man didn’t bother to put Kimo on his leash inside the house or close the front vote to our porch. He was distracted lighting a cigarette or something (I don’t really know because I was getting ready for bed upstairs because it was pretty late) when Kimo saw another dog across the street and ran from the porch. The car came down the road at that moment and he was killed on impact. I know it was an accident and I’m not mad at my old man, but I’m still not a hundred percent comfortable with him taking out our dogs. At least he leashes them up in the house now.

Max.

He was my working dog. We deployed together.

He’s super sweet unless I tell him to bite in German.

@User41 I grew up around my Oma’s German Shepard mixes. She actually trained police dogs in Austria for a time. She’s trained all her dogs well. Though none of them were trained like how she did with police dogs.

I love working dogs.

My parents had an older husky, a golden retriever and an all white indoor outdoor tomcat.
