After dark take a good flashlight and look around thoroughly outside (within hearing distance) and look for the reflecting light from eyes. Do the same in every room - and be sure to look UP. Shelves, overhead pipes, dangling light fixtures. Cubby holes. Cats climb into things then find they can't climb out.
If there is a parking lot around you - listen at every vehicle. Sometimes they crawl into engine compartments for the warmth and get stuck.
After that, you'll have to assume it's your imagination.
I hope you find it.

You've checked all the cupboards and closets and basement and attic and all the boxes it might hace gotten stuck in?
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 I have checked everywhere even the horrible loft
Mamapolo2016 · F
@MiraRoss Turn off everything that makes noise. Do you live in a house or an apartment? If it's an apartment, are there trees or balconies it could have gotten to and gotten trapped?
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 I live in a flat above a shop. I've checked everywhere

Cats hide in the weirdest places. If it's not coming from outside, open your drawers, closet doors, and cupboards in your kitchen. Perhaps the cat is in one of those.

It's gotta be somewhere I would imagine, might be stuck somewhere.
akindheart · 61-69, F

MiraRoss · 31-35, F

Cats can get into spaces up above cupboards and they can get trapped inside walls. I suggest you ask for for help in locating the meowing quickly.

lay down on the floor and keep your ear pressed closely when you hear it. See if the vibrations go through the floor, if it does it's somewhere close
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
