I Larp
As some may recall, in my last post, my character was about to be hunted down by assassins from many different organizations. Well, I'm happy to say that she survived in what I think is the peak moment of my larp career.
It all started when the first bounty hunter emerged from the shadows looking for me after I thwarted her attempts to collect a bounty on a friend last month. I paid some people in town to convince her that I was already apprehended by the Admiral's goons, and after a thorough search of the town while I hid out in the woods, she left empty-handed.
The next assassin was from the Admiral I swindled back in spring. I disguised myself as another person and lied to the assassin's face. Luckily, he was rather stupid and I convinced him that his target was the bounty hunter who recently left town. He took off immediately and wasn't heard from again.
The next day saw some unrelated pirates with ship trouble asking the town for help. I accidentally let slip my character's real name, and a new player (who had been working cleverly with the staff to throw me off on a meta level, and also because it was cool) revealed themselves as the next assassin working for my home country, where I was wanted for treason. I showed him forged papers that I had made, granting me diplomatic protection from a different country, sealed with a signet ring that I stole from the Empress and duplicated when she visited last year. This was apparently good enough for the rest of town, who defended me from the assassin, who wasn't buying it at all.
Lastly, the assassin working for the Empress, whose signet ring I stole and duplicated without her knowledge, and then betrayed anyway, arrived and very nearly killed me if not for a magic item I almost forgot about. Right around then, the pirates, who had fixed their ship thanks to the help of the rest of town, decided to thank everyone by trying to steal everything they could get their hands on. I used the chaos of the ensuing battle to escape and run to their ship and steal it for myself, sailing off into the night, doing what I always do: making new enemies and avoiding answering for my crimes!
And thus ends the tale of the lying, cheating, swindling sorceress that I've created. I could keep playing her until the end of the campaign coming up soon, but it makes no sense for her to stick around in a place this dangerous for her, and I think this is a more fitting end for her story anyway.
