I Love Space Exploration

If you read xkcd, you're very familiar with the adorable personification of Philae. The problem with anthropomorphism is that it creates sentimental attachment, much like one would to a beloved fictional character--since that is what is essentially being created. I drew this xkcd style Philae, before he shut down from a lack of battery charge...

But I'm still really sad that he didn't do all that he could do...

In case you can't read the text, it says:

Goodnight, space.
Goodnight, stars.
Goodnight planets
that orbit our star.

Goodnight ice.
Goodnight moons.
Goodnight ground
that I didn't harpoon.

Goodnight comet.
Goodnight Sun.
Goodnight battery.
This trip has been fun.

Goodbye Earth.
Goodbye ESA.
I'm sorry I failed
both you and Rosetta.

Rosetta: "Shh, Philae. You didn't fail the Earth or the ESA. You didn't fail me. Sleep peacefully, Philae. You deserve a rest."

The ESA describes Rosetta and Philae as being like sister and brother. Big sister and little brother. So... adorable... :c

*sigh* Philae's not dead. He's more like... in a coma. In a coma on a comet. Hopefully he won't be in a coma on a comet in the coma of the comet... because then he'll be asleep forever...

But he did manage to send back loads of data already. But he could have been so much more... four billion miles, only to be hindered by less than a hundred feet of shade... poor Philae :s

I just got upset the other day when Dr. Matt Taylor made a crying apology for his shirt.

Same here. I made a comment "I want to shoot an RPG at those feminazi's heads!" >:c It made me FURIOUS.
