I Hate Racism and Discrimination

How is a sheet of paper that says "It's okay to be white" racist toward colored people? Are they trying to say that being white is bad? Or that white people are inferior to the other races? Isn't assuming this sheet of paper to be a message of hate toward races of color, and then involving the media, an act of racism itself?

Here is the link if you don't know what I'm talking about:

Whether it's racist is almost besides the point, imo. It IS race baiting in the sense that it seems calculated to "trigger" debate on race, which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing if done in an appropriate setting. An unauthorized sign on a building at a private University doesn't seem really appropriate, for any number of reasons, not the least of which is, people are going to be screaming about first amendment rights that are really not so clear.

I actually really feel for private Universities these days, because they're really stuck in the middle with things like this and are easy targets. Tulane is a very high priced private school which has its own struggles to increase diversity and tolerance despite having a very conservative alumni and donor base, on top of having a large number of Northern students in the deep South.

Having said that, race baiting in an in appropriate context is exactly what Trump did with the NFL, and continues to do with things like calling people Pocohontas and the Muslim comments. He's making fun of political correctness, while at the same time emboldening people like the kids who put up this sign, and white nationalists. It's fodder for angry whites and Fox viewers who can say that the evil left is trying to attack whites.

I get it. I've used racial epithets and been politically incorrect language at times to stir up shit myself or to make a point, and actually agree that I'm not comfortable with some of the politically correct stuff my kids come back with from school, like for example, the notion that a minority person can't be racist. In and of itself, that's just wrong, but beyond that, it's an oversimplification that's symptomatic of politics these days.

Why is racial pride a different thing when it's promoted by Malcolm X or David Duke? Its the context, including the speaker, the audience, and the motivation behind it.

These issues should be talked about rationally to understand them, and not screamed about on a third grade level. And in the process, we need to understand our differences.

As a white person, being told, for example, that I can't know what it's like to be black stirs up emotions, defensiveness, and even guilt, that I'm not sure a black person is likely to relate to.

In the right context, I think there's a place for dialog between blacks and whites on these issues. But the time and place, the medium, and the audience matters. Nazis marching in Skokie wasn't really productive, for example, and free speech and discussion does need to be restricted.

I don't see how that specific sign is racist. Perhaps it could be construed as such, but in and of itself, I don't see any problem with it.

It's not racist, they're just trolling people who have been talking shit about white people lately.
Depends on the motive for posting such a sign. Everything in our media, news and advertising has shouted since the beginning that it’s not only okay, but desirable to be white, so why would such a sign even be necessary if not as means to taunt others ?
