I think Catalonia should be autonomous. These specific protests are about freeing political prisoners and achieving democracy. @Dshhh

Catalonia was autonomous until the dictator Franco took it away in the 1940s. Corruption is the reason why it hasn’t been permanently restored. @Dshhh

seems there were 3 periods of "unification" the last under those 2.

but better,, what is behind your choice? is catalonia not well represennted in the national gvt?
