I Prefer Not To Talk On The Phone

Prefer is an understatement to be honest. I really dislike it. I would like to say it stems from being on a helpdesk and being on the phone so much when I was younger but it started before that. I get anxiety when I am on the phone for some reason. It makes me nervous and antsy. I would text all day and night, send emails, do anything I could before I talk on the phone. What makes it worse is my dad is a phone talker and his calls are an hour to an hour and a half each time. After I get off the phone with him I am exhausted. It is terrible.

LOL I love that you posted this! I hate talking on the phone. i am not nervous or antsy or anything but it takes up so much time and you cant multi task well ...so for that reason i hate it.. it seems a waste of my valuable resources.. i can chat to 8 people and answer emails as well as write a report all at the same time rather than be on the phone. I dont mind talking to a very good friend but even then.. :P

Mom gets upset when I don't call for a long time but I know dad will answer the phone so it will be an hour or so before I can talk to her. My conversation with mom is about 5 minutes max because she hates the phone too... lol
Yeah I have family that talk a long time like that too :(

The only thing I have found that helps a little is using speakerphone and not having the phone against my ear. It doesn't help a whole lot but it does a little.

I had to find positions that do not require much phone interactions at work

I'm kind of the same way but only in business related situations. It's frustrating!
