Schizophrenia and bipolar and PTSD suck! I've lost everything and everyone. I'm making new friends and I have a new boyfriend but I dont expect much. I always mess everything up.
Be yourself but always be kind and respectful. Keep track of your monthly mood swings and warn him to be patient. :-) Don’t do anything more than be yourself!!! Make reasonable plans on what he can do to help the situation If you’re having a mood swing talk to him in advance on what he can do to help you thru if. Medicine, scented candles, music, come back in an hour?
Thanks. Because my diabetes causes extreme ups and downs physically and emotionally I have had to do this to help my partner cope with me. It realllllly helps. When I’m better I thank him for his help and make sure I do something special so he feels valued not taken for granted.@LovelySoul
Take one day at a time, be up front and honest with him so he knows what to expect, if he is a decent guy he will be understanding for you. You have people here routing for you <3
A dear friend of mine was stricken with the disorder. Schizophrenia dominated what was an otherwise capable person, of great potential. In his confidence, I understood his phases and knew when to give him space and support as needed. The key for him was adhering to his meds and treatment regime.
Don't lose hope. In time you'll find those with the courage and understanding to stick by your side. They are lifelong companions.
