I believe everything people tell me -in person and online- and find out later I was so naive! I promise myself I will wise up and then go right back to being gullible again. It seems to be my default setting.
I was that way for the best part of my life. It took decades to stop trusting people.
It's your good nature and trusting heart. You expect everyone to be as honest as you, but unfortunately that's not the case. It's almost impossible to change one's nature, but get taken in by unscrupulous people often enough, and it will happen automatically. It may take a long time.
@Carissimi, so did you figure out how to stop automatically trusting everyone? In hindsight I can always see where I've gone wrong (of course!) but at the time...not at all :-) I would still like to be trusting...but not quite so...so very open to being completely taken in! All the time.
@Abrienda, Oh absolutely! It can be so much easier to see when someone else is being taken for a ride – and hopefully give them a heads up or try to help if we can! If only we had that kind of insight into our own situations! :-)
@ITGUY, Thanks. Yup, it's all too easy to get suckered in! Oh well..live and learn (hopefully, eventually...) ;-) Hope you've moved on from your last relationship now :-)
