What's worse? Abandoning your child and never speak to them or abusing them because you see them as burden?

Montanaman · M
The latter. Sometimes, even though it's life altering, leaving is the best, and sometimes only option.😔😔🤗💔

Leave well alone if you can't step up to the plate. The second one's far worse.
[c=#800055]second one ..
I last saw my so called Dad , at my mom's funeral , i was 7+ then, since then we never even spoke via phone also. And im all okay in that way.[/c]

Abandonment can be a good thing. Too many people think they're doing good when they're doing damage.

My sperm donor did both.
JBird · F
@ScrewThisImDone so did mine. I just hoped he thought of staying away much earlier
ScrewThisImDone · 26-30, F
@JBird Mine didn't until I was 14, but he was barely there even before then.

Both are bad in their own way. I have experienced both. I got a lot of beatings growing up and I have been told not to step into my mom’s house ever again. She lives in another country. Has not even bothered to message and ask me whether I’m ok and vice versa. Even when things were ok between us she was quite indifferent. A friend of mine told me that she has no maternal instincts and another friend expressed her annoyance at her indifference
The circumstances that led to her barring me from her house were my fault but sometimes I feel it was a bit harsh. She sent me money through my dad on my birthday last year - throws some cash like peanuts to a dog I guess.
Abusing them. Abandonment, as awful as that is, at least leaves room for a kind person to step in and parent. A child would still thrive in that situation. Abuse is more difficult to overcome.

Both are bad and will mess them up for life.

Are you trying to decide a course of action?
Cuz, there are other choices.
JBird · F
@Budwick I don't know if you noticed it but I am not an idiot and I don't have your twisted sense of humour.
