Could you be happy living a childless life?

DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I'm happily childfree. ("childLESS" insinuates that I am somehow less of a person without a child and I dont see it that way.)
I think things can be over analyzed. Barren womb I could see as derogatory. Drug free isn’t offensive. Unless you really want drugs. 😆

@12345abc "free" is a positive connotation, while "less" is a negative one.

The best form of birth control is watching a small child having a meltdown in the middle of a store.

@LadyGrace That too. I have a much younger cousin, I was a couple weeks until my 19th birthday when she was born. She had some very serious mental disabilities, but was not outright diagnosed retarded, as a child and acted out in public habitually. My uncle, his wife, and cousin, must have been banned out of half the restaurants in the SW Portland, Oregon, metro area by the time Lisa was five. And at family gatherings, holy sheep dip, she was a terror.
I’m so sorry to hear this. It must be very hard for you. I was referring only to children who clearly have no disabilities, but are spoiled rotten by the parents, with no disciplinary skills. @NativeOregonian

@LadyGrace Yes, Lisa has severe mental issues, however, my uncle, her dad never attempted to discipline her, always blamed it on others and saying it was us that should be more mindful how we act around her, and her mother, my uncle's wife, has schitzoeffective disorder, which means she acts out the voices in her head and is on some pretty heavy psyche meds. My Grandfather swore up and down that her mother's own issues and meds are responsible for Lisa having issues, while my now dead uncle blamed in on Lisa's delivery doctor, claiming the cord was wrapped around her neck and the doc didn't get it off fast enough and sued. However, when it went to court, the doc said that the cord was not wrapped around her neck.

I prefer the term childfree and yes, there are many more routes to happiness that don't involve children.

Pretty sure life is more enjoyable if you aren't spending 3/4ths of your paycheck on people who annoy you half the time.... As happy as they might make some people.. the Upkeep is more than most would like to admit.

I love children, I'm reconsidering biologically having children because of the pregnancy and birth process. I always wanted to be a mother, so I might adopt and/or become a foster parent.

I'm glad I never got married or had children but a big reason why I didn't was because I've never been happy.
SW-User
Yes, much happier than with children.
