I Like Good Ideas

I think it's a nice idea that you can choose to "plant a tree" for example when you order online from some companies, the first time I saw it was, I think, on Yves Rochers website about nine years ago as a choice in their 'bonus products' that you get to choose from with every order.

I've seen it in more and more places recently, last in my local store where you can choose to buy one using your collected bonus points.

It's supposed to save the rainforest, so with every "tree" you choose or buy, a tree is supposed to be planted in those areas.
That's always my concern. I used to buy a goat for a village in some third world country, every Christmas, even though I am not a Christian. I thought it was a good cause. Then someone asked me how I knew that $100.00 was actually buying a goat. I was unable to find any confirmation beyond the thank-you letters I received from
*Someone*.

That's the tricky part - does a tree actually get planted? It's supposed to save the rainforest, this idea.
Do you get to actually physically plant the tree?
