I think those that choose not to vote are a huge problem, by not bothering to vote you can never really complain about the awful people in power and are partially responsible for the shitty governments a lot of us have to suffer under.

Don't get me wrong I think the majority of politicians are awful and having to choose between the least worst rather than someone you believe in is a chore but as a woman I owe it to those who fought for my right to vote to actually use it.

@AntisocialTroll mmm well you don’t vote in my Rez elections why should I vote in yours? I live in a sovereign nations within the borders of the US. Also my Rez elections are pretty useless and are modeled after the US colonial system so I don’t see the point.

Well as Human being, having one person represent/keep watcher of 7.7 millions people? Seems pretty stupid. Our own president can’t keep track of 200,000.

Just what I think.

@AnthroKenji I'm sorry, I have no idea what a Rez election is, tried google and got a frozen food thing and music! So I'ma clueless as to whatcha on about I'm afraid.

@AntisocialTroll Sorry I should have been more clear. We Natives/Indian/Indigenous have our own governing bodies that typical US citizens are not allowed to take part in for obvious reasons. Rez is like shorthand for Reservation.
AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
@AnthroKenji Gotcha! Although I take your point I'd still disagree with you not bothering to vote as I'd presume you are not just governed by the laws of your reservation but also by US laws as well and by not voting you are accidentally helping to keep a shitty government in power.
AnthroKenji · 36-40, M
@AntisocialTroll I wouldn’t say accidentally. Intentionally not participating is entirely within my right. I just don’t get motivated when those in authority...want nothing more...than to stay in authority. I see it as a great way to keep people down. But that’s just me. I just don’t believe in governance. More of a mind my own business and control what I can type person.
AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
@AnthroKenji That kinda makes it sound like you'll happily settle for having a real shitty government in power simply because you don't believe in governance but to my mind as people we have a responsibility to at least try and keep the worst arseholes out of power.
AnthroKenji · 36-40, M
@AntisocialTroll I think 200+ years of broken treaties with Native Nations speaks to my distrust of a government. Individuals made up of a “government” who all work in a centralized state refuse to work with each other/meet/talk but would rather “tweet”. It’s pretty stupid. And THEY want US to choose sides? When they won’t work together? Makes me laugh
AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
@AnthroKenji I do get what you're saying and understand where you are coming from.
