I Lost A Family Member

I had an upsetting meeting with my therapist. My godfather was asked to participate cause I haven’t seen him since he threw me out in a drunken rage. We thought it would be a move in the right direction to have a family therapy session. No One forced him to participate, my therapist made a compromise for him to be on the phone & he agreed to it. It was going well until he said that my life means nothing to him & that if my uncle didn’t pass, I could be dead on the street & he would still have nothing to do with me. The therapist told him he can’t mean that & he said back that I’m a C word like my mother. At that, the meeting ended when he hung up. As of now, I give up & I’ll probably never see or hear of or from him again.

Sadly, part of getting on our feet is finding out some ugly truths about people that have let us down. It’s a very painful process, but once you start weeding people like him out, you will learn to let better people in.

Hopefully you have a good therapist that will help you do just that.

You deserve much better. Just know you never had control on how he treated you, but you can make choices now on who can be part of your life.

Good luck with it all. It’s not easy finding out how crummy some people are.
