I Think More Parents Need to Tell Their Kids No

At what age do you feel it is appropriate for a child to be given the privilege of a cell phone?

Does it make a difference if you as the parents are paying for it versus the child paying for it by themselves?

if you allow a child a cell phone, what restrictions or control would you exercise over it?

Age is about 12, when they get to the point of being responsible with in the law to visit, explore and play without adult supervision.

Unless your forcing your child to carry out underage work the adult always pays. It makes sense to help kids learn the value of money, how to budget etc. But encouragingly not strictly enforced.

There are lots of restrictions one can apply to hand sets themselves and via the carrier. Age gate protection on internet use of course helps. Just be a vigilant parent, kids are intelligent little buggers and always do things you never expect!
