Along my mtb trails..

On the edge of the Rockies..

To the SW, it's more arid, where the desert wants to spread into the landscape. The scent of sage and cedar prevalent.

Out of dry rocky ground, growth and blooming. I adore that, as it doesn't need any assistance or human manipulation to thrive. It just does, naturally. That's a true free spirit!

A little to the NE, it's more lush and green. Meadow flowers bloom along a ponderosa pine forest trail. The air cooler, sweet and fresh, infused with that earthy pine scent..

Those red ones remind of some I saw near the rim of the Grand Canyon:
