That was an awesome seen with the cat ..... for me it's weird and harder to explain, there is a lot still to see in great art films, but am drawn more to the low brow stuff, exploitation, the so bad it's good stuff. To see how poor a movie could be, but in a strangely good way that can cause pleasure ie: laughter, and a particular style per director .... but to also then come back to purer forms, imagining it like seeing them for the first time, getting to see an unseen as of yet from the names you can trust, it looks good perhaps on paper, but then experiencing things that way may not work like that. To have in the back of the mind a few select titles that effected you deeply, to re-see them in the not too distant feature, to see them as if one can surprise onself, and be surprised by them again. Just a bit of a way i think to get over the inexplicable estrangement i feel towards the pure, they seem too precious, and my attention is like a sledgehammer and i don't wanna bludgeon a great work of art by paying attention to it, i need inner refinement first it almost seems.
Today's standards, you know them so much better than me, and if things are as dire as you suggest, i am doubly pleased to keep safely ensconced in the previous decades. ... For instance i've never seen Intolerance and Broken Blossoms yet .....:)
@SW-User I have no problem with living in the past decades. I don't care about fads. At some point I will see the new Blade Runner, but it must not be now.

@Cierzo To see new things is a risk taking thing, keep happy and patient..... :)
@Cierzo I love watching Bela Tarr. I watch Turin's horse once a year or so. I have never seen Satantango. Can't get a hold of it through the library and it's not something I want to buy.
