I Love the Smell of Old Books

Worked in a secondhand bookstore for years. I miss being surrounded by that smell.

Couldn't agree more. Spent a good part of Saturday afternoon in a used book shop.

Oh yes, I do too. I miss working at the library. In some ways that was the best job I've ever had, as it showed me how much there was to learn - much more than I could ever absorb in a single lifetime. How can anyone get bored, with so much to discover?

long as you don't come into possession of any moldy volumes.

@muffinman While working there I learned that the best way to get rid of mold is to microwave the book on high for 10 seconds (after being careful to remove all paperclips, stables, etc first, of course lol). Then wipe the dead mold off the covers and spine etc. It works very well :-)

awesome advice.

@SW-User but do you still use the microwave to heat up your food?
I would love to work in a bookstore:)

@sunnydreams It's a lot of fun. I briefly worked for B Dalton, just over the Christmas season years ago. Sadly things died down afterward and they didn't need the help after that. And, more sadly still, B Dalton is no more. But at least we still have Barnes & Noble.
