I Love Toronto

And I love music

I don't know if they do this any longer, it's a quick search upon their website to know, but this is a choir that learned to take over a bar/coffee shop by day called Future's and teach those at the bar to sing. They became infamous from their tribute of David Bowie at the AGO in February 2016 (it's been that long?)

Then later for when Prince died, two months later with

It started more like this with smaller crowds just a couple people looking for those who wanted to sing. I think it's a fabulous contribution in community and makes me miss Toronto sometimes.

This is so amazing!!! I've always loved singing in a church choir! 馃槏

@Vivaci Yes, it is amazing and so very involving. I know little of singing in a choir, I did know a lot of Prince when they took over Massey Hall upon request and I showed up, timid as hell, with a gruelling two hours of just learning to sing a song I know too deeply. I need to see them outside that environment in their roots. I just live outside Toronto now otherwise I would have.

You sing?
@SW-User yeah, I do.

I particularly liked Tiny Dancers....

@Vivaci The Bowie and Prince performance was in response to tragedy giving voice, even to those who couldn't sing. The Tiny Dancers performance is much closer to what I imagine comes out to a weekly sing-a-long of theirs but that does come with at this point they do have a community of those who sing in choir that follow them.

@Vivaci They picked a hard one for Prince really, in my mind. I love to sing, privately, and sing many Prince songs privately to myself but 'When Doves Cry' is harder than some of his work.
@SW-User yeah, they are so musical and not one person is out of tune or chorus!! 馃槏 Kudos to their conductor.
@SW-User I think all of his songs are pretty tough compared to the other singers.

Wow!! You can sing like Prince!?
SW-User
@Vivaci Now imagine teaching people who are passionate but not necessarily singers and conduct 2000 people in two hours. A lot of kudos is deserved.

@Vivaci In the shower, yes! Otherwise - no. It's just a hard song in emotional expression as it swings all over the place.
@SW-User I love the shower effect too! 馃槄
SW-User
@Vivaci I prefer the headphone effect, but the shower one well it's own sort of thing. 馃槀

And thank you! 馃

@Vivaci Small update on the library piece I put up a couple weeks ago. Council approved, I'm so happy they didn't listen to the naysayers and my city chose culture over austerity
SW-User
@Vivaci We've hardly interacted I know but when you do, you do so very vibrantly.
@SW-User oh wowwwwwww!!!!

Woohoo!!! Time to celebrate dude!!! 馃榾鉁岋笍馃尭馃

@SW-User awww....thank you!!! I think you're doing the right thing by celebrating.

It's such a wonderful and humane cause...馃挄馃憤
