I barely know any funk music, but the chorus of this song is sung at hockey games when there's a review of play. Basically, when someone scores a goal but the referees think maybe the goal shouldn't count because a player did something against the rules, they have to take a timeout and look at the video replay to decide if the goal should be allowed. While everyone is waiting for the decision, the chorus of "Tell me something good" is often sung.
