Outstanding Guitar Players

I can't possibly pick one over the other... Does everything has to be always a competition where "The Best" is selected...? That's such an American thing... Art is not a race, every artist is unique and contributes in their own, unique way... I love both Gilmour and Hackett, both are superb guitarists, and I think it's pointless to "pick a winner" among them, imho...

Both are fine artists. It was a shame how Hackett got screwed out of Genesis. And yes, I know he quit...but under the circumstances he did so cuz he was getting screwed. Genesis could have evolved all the better if he’d stayed. But at the end of the day I have to go with Gilmour. His playing cuts you to the bone and straight to your soul. He is not my favourite guitarist, but is certainly in my top 5.

Much as I admire Gilmore,"The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" is my favourite album of all time.

David Gilmour....I just love the way he plays.
