I Want to Be More of a Minimalist

Not only do I enjoy being organized by I'm tired of having so much stuff. Minimalist lifestyle just looks so much more fulfilling because you have less to clean, more time to focus, and you're not always worried about the needing money to buy something you don't really need.
@sunchild777 The ultra-rich and the unemployed ultra-poor both have the asset of having a lot of time on their hands to organize. If you are ultra-poor I guess the problem then becomes that you barely get by and probably have a very small place, so you have even more extreme problems getting everything minimalist. Anyone can make a 4000 square foot home look empty with a lot of work and planning. Making an 800 square foot apartment look empty might be tougher.

I guess Christ managed to do minimalism. There are people who manage to live out of a backpack. It can be done.

P.S., Judging by lack of responses on this story, I think we are the only minimalist wannabees on SW. Everyone else is busy maxing out their charge cards.
Have you seen that book by Japanese author Marie Kondo? I love the idea of a minimal life, but I can never clear enough material off my plate to make progress on that. I feel like you need to have $20M tucked away, then quit your job, and then you can focus on minimizing your footprint. It's hard to minimize when you constantly have new inputs appearing. It feels like a serious full time job to minimize well.

When I was much younger I did exactly that. I lived in a hippy commune in California for about a year. It was interesting but things like clean clothes and air conditioning were nice and not there.
@sunchild777 Still, it feels to me that you have to be very rich to focus on making your life very small.

I do find the goal of a minimum footprint - and minimum clutter - attractive.

But what about poor people who just can't afford to buy anything anyway?

Edit: a lot of people become minimalist due to debt problems in the first place.

I understand what you mean. I have heard of her method but it's easier to just start off slow.
