I Have a Bad Knee

After having kidz, my knees have steadily, and steadily gotten worse over time.

I finally got a doctor to listen to me and hear me out. I found out that the ligaments in my knees were loose and needed exercises to strengthen them.

Well, after several months, I hurt my knee while dancing. A partial mcl tear. A weak later I injured a ligament in my knee on the inside, on the left side.

So its been a while now.

My gynecologist told me it'd take 3 months to heal naturally. yeah right. More like 6 months or more.

So I'm resting it right now and am experiment with what i can and can not do with my knee.

I am trying to exercise but its hard.

Update ~

I went to my orthopedic doctor and he had an x-ray done. He noticed my bad knee, how much it hurt, and how swollen it was and he ordered an mri for tuesday and then a follow-up. I am very grateful that its finally getting some headway for my knee pain.

So very grateful :)
I went to my orthopedic dcotor

Update Update ~

My bones are good. My ligaments and meniscus in my knee are all healthy. I have slight edema deep in the center of my left knee.

So basically I overworked my knee. NO dancing :( . I have to be diligent with my anti-inflammatory pills, icing and having to return to OT. Should get better in 6-8 weeks.

Am thinking this might be from doing things too agressive/athletic for my body size.

arghhhhh. But at least I'm more aware now.

UPDATE AGAIN ~

My physical therapist now thinks i have loose ligaments, weak quads and bursitis?

It feels like I've been on a roller coaster ride for finding out whats up with my knee.

I've been in that boat. I use to run 80 miles a week and eventually after a few years, my knees just gave out. My options were surgery or OT. I took 6 months of OT and 'get by'. I don't run nearly as much, more like 8 miles a year and squats are painful and sitting even hurts. All I can do is monitor the pain/ anti-inflammatory pills and go slow.

It's defiantly a roller coaster ride and not a fun one. Good luck and keep us posted.

So sorry! Both my knees, shoulders, hip joints are shot and I have arthritis and MS. So I can relate! What do you mean 'return to OT'?
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
i confused occupational therapy with physical therapy lol

I see. Great video btw!

perhaps using a ligament wrench and quad driver would tighten things up
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
hehe yeah. quad exercises actually help a lot with my knee pain. yesterday when I went up the stairs and pressed my foot into the stairs and pushed up with my muscles - my knees didn't hurt so bad going up
biker001
i have a bunch of joints like that.. and most of the reason i'm in the gym 3 days a week. if i don't the arthritis gets sharper and my muscles start to cramp.. it's just easier to keep active
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
that it is. the pain is MUCH worse without exercise
satinlover01
I have bad knees I use the "total gym" for exercise it is great.
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
awesome. just found out now that its loose ligaments, weak quads and bursitis
satinlover01
a special knee brace called "tommy copper" helps a lot too
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
my knee dr didn't want me to ohave a knee brace so that my knee won't get too lazy
biker001
are you taking recommendations for "lay" practitioners???
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
I'm working with a physical therapist but with limited results
biker001
i've be to PT a lot,, especially after motorcycle wrecks.. i know a lot of stretch exercises that i bet you'd like
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
thanx. i have found stuff to help. one of which is a medication to help with inflammation. but honestly the pt isn't as much of a help as I thought
goodoldboy
would like to help with the rest and rehab
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
hehe, I'm sure
