I Think the Justice System Is Flawed

Officer Yanez is acquitted of all charges in the shooting death of Philando Castile. That includes even the lesser charges, potentially most disturbing of all, he was even found not guilty of reckless endangerment of a minor with regards to firing 7 shots in close proximity to a child, his girlfriend's daughter, despite the officer's own testimony of literally blacking out and not remembering firing any more than the last two shots.

I am sad and deeply disturbed. This is my community. I live technically 2 or 3 "towns" over from where the shooting occurred, but the twin cities are really just an urban sprawl, and it's all one big little city. I know there is a protest march planned already for this evening, and I highly expect they will block 94 again. I hope no protesters are hurt tonight. Stay safe.

That's bs. So sad. The U.S. needs to really do better.

@sweetiepoo: I completely agree. Better vetting in the hiring process, better training, better policy enforcement, better use of force expectations among the civilians, and better prosecution.

At some point I have to wonder if the jurors didn't want to be responsible to their families and friends of sending a cop to jail, but I just don't understand how anyone sat trough that evidence and said "not guilty." Oh, wait... only 3 jurors were black, that might have something to do with it :(
