I Suffer From Bruxism

What don’t my teeth suffer from?
11 years of bulimia and teeth grinding.
I have major plans for the future regarding my teeth. There are times I wonder why my parents ever got me braces.
They are brittle, they chip very easily, I have had dozens of cavities. I luckily do not suffer from bad breath and I do take very good care of my teeth, flossing daily and brushing 2-3 times a day.
But I see my teeth as a constant problem so dental implants are extremely likely for my future. They all need to be replaced. It’s a damn shame. I feel like an old man. It’s an embarrassment so I don’t smile with my teeth ever.

Get your dentist to make you a custom-fitted mouthpiece so you don't damage them by grinding in your sleep.

@quitwhendone very good advice x
@Syktur It's a common problem. Dentists make mouthpieces for that. I've known people who have worn them.

You know some medications cause bruxism. Amphetamines and some antidepressants, especially Prozac come to mind off-hand.

@quitwhendone oh wow. I had no idea haha. I take antidepressants.
@Syktur Did your bruxism start around the time you started taking them? Which one do you take?
Syktur · 26-30, M
@quitwhendone technically it’s an anticonvulsant but it can treat depression. Trileptal
@Syktur Bipolar depression?

@quitwhendone severe depression and mood instability as well as cptsd
@Syktur I wish you well.

You only take that one medication for all of those conditions?

@quitwhendone it seems to cover a lot of my symptoms to a certain degree
@Syktur Well, that's great if it works.
