If you're analytical while thinking, you can expand your mind other than that a swirling sea of thoughts leads to mindlessness and an inability to focus on any ine think for a period of time. As well as the inability to think deeply about any one particular thing. Many sides to it

To call someone dumb because they think too much to their liking is pretty rude.
