A Maiden and Her King

Desperate and loveless alone in my tower.

A maiden clasping her red petaled flower.

Slumbering endlessly upon this bed.

Awaiting a knight to end my dread

Years gone and hope forlorn.

Lonesome days consumed with mourn.

No more do I await my king.

A song of sorrow I now sing.

......

Once A knight with pride I won the war.

Now I question what the death was for.

What good is victory if you're alone?

Waiting for someone to steal your throne.

Leaving the kingdom to clear my head.

Into the forrest my steed tread.

His ears perking at a sound

Beauty and music in the air are found.

Onward I travel towards the source.

Her sorrow echoing my remorse.

A dragon meets me at the gate.

Drawing a sword I greet my fate.

Slaying the beast I enter the tower.

A maiden greets me with a flower.

.........

Descendants hear of our storybook tales.

How everlasting love always prevails.

Don't be afraid to wait most of your life.

Fairytale endings don't happen twice.

Our adventures live on together forever.

As we live happily ever after.
Great! Pedestrian, but great. I am not a poetry snob. Someone once wrote a poem titled "Fleas" and the body was "Adam had em." It became immortal.
