I Am Retired

Next month I receive my first Social Security check. I cried, for real, when I heard what amount I would get after all my life working!!!! I was the working poor. Government welfare serves folks better than someone who worked minimum wages. How can anyone save money when they live from paycheck to paycheck.

I live on Social Security and it's a joke, a very bad joke. Enjoy it while it lasts. If the Republicans stay in power, SS will go away after the 2020 election.

@hunkalove Go do some research and find out which party was in power when they robbed the SS system of its money to pay for "other" gov't projects! BTW, I'm an independent and am retired. I worked my arse off since I was 14 and lived below my means, so I'm good for now!

@hunkalove Lordy be, I hope not! If anything could stir the hearts of "we the people", it would be to down right steal our hard working cash from us! It would not be pretty.

It’s very sad when politicians pay themselves huge pensions in retirement. It’s the same world over the working person never gets far.

@amvanquish but WE voted the fu$$kers in! There is a change in the air. It's not Trump, it is people getting teed-off at how they are controlling/doing to us. But ...sigh... nothing new, the government are mobsters! Always have been.

This is a good reminder to those working. Social security is never enough. Always pay your savings first before paying anything else. Even just 5% of every check will add up to a nice retirement supplement.

@waleskinder Definitely true

@GJOFJ3 Yes sir!!!

You are correct.
And they don't want us living beyond paycheck to paycheck.
Think about it, until you've fallen as far as you can go, the government will never extend a helping hand.

@xixgun Like I said, I worked two jobs at the end. One a weekly paycheck, working 30 hrs. a week. Then I cleaned homes for my … saving cash.

@waleskinder I, as a single woman, was down to as little as possible. But my bills were always on time. AND I worked two jobs the later part of my working life.
