I Was Diagnosed With Adrenal Fatigue

If you ask any GP in the UK if you might have adrenal fatigue, they will say there is no such thing. But after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I was told by the pain clinic that Fibromyalgia *is* adrenal fatigue (which just goes to show that GPs know very little in depth about common illnesses).

Unfortunately, the pain clinic went on to say that it was their belief that adrenal fatigue is caused by the brain and nervous system being on high alert after trauma - which is a baseless theory since they do no adrenal or genetic testing whatsoever.

Always get a second, third, fourth opinion, and educate yourself. Good doctors are willing to concede the patient sometimes knows more than they do.

Yes I was diagnosed with ME and PCOS first so I think Fibromyalgia / adrenal fatigue may be just like an additional layer or illness on top of something else, so diagnosing Fibromyalgia doesn't really get to the bottom of things at all. It's like describing the 'what' without addressing the 'how' or 'why'.

Yes. Most people can learn more from their own bodies and fellow sufferers (a word I am not entirely comfortable with) than from doctors.

I have this too but it took for ever for doctors to diagnose triggers include long term stress from jobs, relationship problems or even chronic disease. Mine mostly stems from chronic incurable illness and the medication used to lower my immune system.

JUST Adrenal fatigue is fairly easy to treat and manage - with lifestyle changes. Adrenal fatigue leads to many ailments - resulting in more serious diseases ☹
