I Am Done

My grandmother used to say, "If you look for something long and hard enough, you usually find it... Even if it doesn't really exist."

For most of my life, I had no idea what she meant by this, and figured she was speaking about things like car keys or lost shoes.

It wasn't until I was older and she was gone that I really began to understand. What she was talking about has nothing to do with the physical at all, but more the emotional and spiritual.

People often complain about the world and others in it, without realizing that they are seeing exactly what they are looking for and want to see. I am guilty of this just like everyone else.

"The world is a cesspool, and human beings are evil, disgusting creatures..."this is because that is what you expect to see, and so that is what you focus on to confirm your bias. "People who voted for that person, or believe that way are idiots and disgusting..." Again, exactly what you want to see, and so it becomes your reality.

I'm done with the hostility, the mindless mob mentality, and the constant self inflicted bitterness.

Maybe, rather than arguing over which celebrity, news personality or politician is making the world better or worse, we each need to focus on what we ourselves (as individuals) are doing to improve our part of it. Rather than demanding others live by our standards, beliefs and judgements, we need to start trying to understand why other think and feel as they do.

Personally, I'm fed up with being called certain names because I don't follow a certain political ideology, or see things the way others demand. I'm through with arguing with others simply because they don't see the world as I do or vote for the people I support.
And, I am done with people whom set fire to the world then whine about the flames.

Maybe my grandmother was right. Maybe the world is a bad place because that is all we are looking for, and so that is all we see.

And yes, by the way, this applies to every aspect of our lives, not just politics. Maybe all men appear to be liars and cheaters because that is what you seek out. Maybe all women ignore you or treat you bad because you expect them to. Just something to think about...

Rant over.

Your grandmother was correct. What she was unknowingly referring to however, was something called 'manifestation'.

'Manifestation' means, to create from the mind that which is only an idea and then cause it's physicality to manifest into fruition.

But where that "something" exists that your grandmother was talking about, is in our mind... like an image. It does not necessarily exist in reality.

And when we focus on that image long and hard enough in our mind, the reason we will usually find it is because we unknowingly manifest it into our physical reality. In other words, we either 'make' it become real, or we are physically positioned somewhere on earth where it already physically exists, which means direct ourselves to go where it is located.

Suddenly, it appears right in front of us! Yes, of course it suddenly appears! It either happened because we brought it into fruition with intense thinking, or we took ourselves to where it is was located all along!

If you are poor, you made that happen for yourself.

If you are rich, you also made that happen.

If you have not yet met a certain person, you chose that for yourself.

If you are swamped with certain people, you brought them to yourself.

What we don't give ourselves credit for, is creating our own 'luck' or 'wealth' or 'poverty'. We tend to think someone else or some random circumstance caused us to fall victim to our lot in life.

Truth is, we manifest our lot in life and always have, but never knew we were 'doing' it to ourselves.[/c]
@swirlie there is a lot of truth in what you say. We get/create the world we expect or look for.

I just get tired sometimes of people complaining about how messed up or awful the world is, when they do absolutely nothing to make it better themselves.

I agree with you. But in truth, is the world YOU see out there, all messed up and awful to look at?[/c]
@swirlie me personally? No. I see the world as full of wonder and hope. I see myself as too messed up to join it most of the time.

Going back to the other people again, THEY see the opposite of what you do.

How could two separate worlds be so different from each other when we walk on the same ground?[/c]
@swirlie a controversial (by personal favorite) author once said: "Reality is Objective and unchanging... A will always be A. Intellect is merely our means of perceiving our own little piece of reality."- Ayn Rand

That's all very fine. That's what Ayn Rand perceives to be her reality.

The question was however, what is your reality versus those 'other' people's reality?

Does what 'they' say, actually exist from your visual perspective?[/c]
@swirlie only in their mind. I used to believe as many do, that this world was garbage and worthless. That people were irredeemable and corrupt.

When I changed my view, did the world actually change, or just how I perceived it?

Only how you perceived it! There is nothing out there that changed! And if you weren't listening to what they were all saying, you would not be aware of their point of view!
