I Removed A Toxic Person From My Life

Fortunately, my toxic person wasn't very bad.

We met at a summer camp, after a talent show. I had played a (very difficult D: ) arrangement of "This Day Aria" from the children's show my little pony. Soon after he came up to me, and announced that he knew the song. Immediately, we became friends due to the fact that we both watched mlp. Because bronies are fairly uncommon in real life, it basically automatically made us friends. He seemed like a cool person and we really hit it off for a few months. He started coming to an event I went to every Monday, and we continued to be friends. Slowly over time though, I learned his interests. He was a huge 4chan'er and troll. He listened to music I wasn't really interested in, and was a really asshat to people on the Internet. He was always getting banned from one site or another. I realized that at heart, we were different people. I knew if I hung around him I would most likely morph into his culture of trolling, all-nighters and pop. Slowly, I got farther away from him which was very hard, because I had many other friends at the event I went to, and I couldn't really just not come. Finally, my family moved away and that ended it.

I don't want to say he was a bad person, but he wasn't a good person either. I learned the valuable lesson that even if someone seems alike to you because of a major similar interest, it doesn't always mean they will be a good friend to you. It was also a very large shock to me, because the my little pony community is usually ba<x>sed off the principle that we as people should do our best to love and tolerate, which is something I (most of the time) strongly believe in. When he showed his true colours by being so mean and harmful to others on the Internet, I just couldn't really believe it. But I had to, because it was all true.
