it was Ok ,,
This song has been covered so many ways
I had a fiddle player play with my band for a while
an 1800's stradivarius violin with an electronic tail piece
He could use effects and make it sound like anything ,even interface with a midi controller ,play the keyboard at the same time
But he would get drunk and ruin a lot of our tunes too .
It was wireless ,so even on sets we did not include him
He would be off somewhere ,still punking in ,,
I had to get rid of him ,more trouble then he was worth
but he could have torn this up ,,done a better job
If he was sober
But it was cool ,not my favorite cover ,but cool

@rckt148 Pink Floyd doesn't do ok ,lol not really a cover just alternate.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kodiac the cover was not Pink Floyd ,,
If Roger Waters or David Gilmour played that on a cigar box guitar ,,you can bet it would have been mixed and played perfect ,,,I have been a fan at least 2 x's longer then you have been alive ,,
seen them preform septate and acoustic ,I know they always rock ,,but not everyone who covers their tunes do
even with their track running in the back ground

@rckt148 Wish You Were Here" version with jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli - track that, according to Giancarlo Sciama, EMI London vice president of Marketing, was considered by Nick Mason, drummer of the band, as the best part of the whole schedule of releases.

well he has his opinion and I have mine
in the beginning it sounded like a beginner playing
I cant play a violin ,but I know when something is not quite right and a tad out of key
It did get better .but in the beginning all I could think was WTF ,,just my opinion
kodiac · 22-25, M
@rckt148 So it's not a cover ?
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kodiac have you never heard a group alter a song you have loved for years ,,and think "Damn ,I wish they had not done that "?
Well I have been a fan of Roger Waters and David Gilmour for about 40 something years
Heard their tunes preformed just about any way you can imagine
I was not a fan of this arrangement ,,its that simple
I felt the violin in the beginning sounded like something I could play and I am no violin player .
I play Guitar ,Bass ,Keyboard and drums ,,some harp
I can tune a guitar e string to 4/40 by ear and it be dead on ,,since I was playing since I was about 8 ,,self taught
all by ear and played before the nation at 12 ,I have a tiny bit of experience ,,Music is about taste ,,some bands I love ,some make me nervous ,
some changes to a song enhance it ,some ruin it ,,but thats me ,my preference
And to say my talents have allowed me to party and play with some pretty big stars of the 80's and 90's,,well I dislike bragging
I even had the pleasure of building a few of their homes
and a few private jam sessions that I would have never dreamed would happen in my life time ,I am actually jamming with my Idol ,,well I am attempting to be humble
You liked it ,,I don't
What is so hard to accept about that ?
no matter how you paint it ,,
I am still not going to like the car if I hate the car

Some effects on the violin I may have liked it better
The violin player I fired was schooled in the Juilliard School‎ of music ,did concerts all over the world ,but in my band he sucked (only because he got drunk and didn't know when to stop plunking his instrument when it was not needed)

Version of "Wish You Were Here" with jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli - that range, according Giancarlo Sciama, vice president of Marketing at EMI London, was considered by Nick Mason, drummer of the band, as the best part of the whole release schedule.
How Wish You Were Here has no video clip, I decided to make an edit to accompany the music. Images used are the pompei Live in 1972.
EMI

Drummers don't listen for notes they are about the drive and the beat ,changes and fills
I am a lead sing /Rhythm /Lead guitar player notes and pitch do matter to me
A few notes made me not like it ,,only a few notes
and I can read she is a Jazz violinist ,,
a few notes made me ask "why did she do that "?
especially now that I know she is a professional

You could listen to my songs and say "That sucks ,he is not a good guitar player" ,and that would be you opinion too
I would bet most of the people I have played for since age 10 would disagree ,,but I am sure you would find some that agree with you ,,Hell I would agree with you
I am a lead singer ,,I had to learn to play to get anyone to notice me ,,,there are only like 50 guitar players in my family ,many of them recording artists
you want a break in my family you have to stand out ,I did
I can sing my ass off ,,even at 60
kodiac · 22-25, M
@rckt148 I understand all of that ,i said it wasn't a cover to me a cover is a tune not done by the original band .We are on the same team lol We both like Floyd ,if you can imagine some people don't!😖
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kodiac Oh I know some don't
I was doing comfortably numb and someone started yelling
radioactive ,,so I played the version by the Firm
they wanted Imagine Dragons
You have to know how to read the crowd
kodiac · 22-25, M
@rckt148 Has to be a super rush playing these songs! Anyone that yells anything during comfortably numb should be removed from the venue!
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kodiac it was a lead guitar player I fired and a buddy of his ,,,
he was trying to get me to play heavy metal ,,I was doing a solo show ,,mainly family .it was a club my cousin played for 15 yrs ,,he got me to do a set
So he just kept belting out songs trying to make me play something he didn't call "Bubble gum "
I fired him for being a drunk too
Smashing cymbals with the head of your guitar may look cool
it also knocks you out of tune and you ruin the rest of my set
A "D" string out of tune drives me nuts ,,so several strings out of tune
yea ,not cool to me
kodiac · 22-25, M
@rckt148 Bury him in bass lol
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kodiac I do a solo Working man he liked
Back in Black ,Grinder ,I just wasn't letting him goat me into getting him on stage ,,thats what he wanted ,,
he and I to rock
My cousins wife plays a B3 Hammond organ
She can back the best of them
He and I and her backing us up on Keys ,it would have been good
But I fired him to send a message ,play with me
have your stuff together
kodiac · 22-25, M
@rckt148 Rush to ?? Ok where is your next gig i'm coming lol.I get a lot of crap from people my age for liking this music , no accounting for taste i guess . I think rush has the best drummer out there .
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kodiac most of the world agrees ,the best 3 man band on the planet
I canceled my last Gig in June 2 yrs ago
my Bass player of 30 yrs was in the studio practicing for a Gig we did every July 4th for our fans near Daytona Beach
when he was taken to hospice ,,end stage cancer
he passed the next day ,,I canceled our Gig
I have only played 8 times since
I am playing for my granddaughters wedding in 10 days
That will be my last time on stage
I started at 10 ,I am quiting at 60 ,it was a good life
now I will do some recordings with backing tracks for a few die hard fans ,,other then that ,,I'm done
Quit while the fans still think your good 🎹
