I am kinda interested in how people compare the 2 giant 90's sitcoms Seinfeld and Friends, where are you, where do you stand?

I am firmly a Seinfeld person, Friends seems too millenial and preppy to me, i am very into the idea of getting Friends on dvd and getting a better view of what it was all about, but from what i recall through broadcast television Friends had no stand out moments, it didn't take hold, it was meant for other people, but i can still go out and enjoy it, that is the great thing about reappraising things, you get to look back in the now, the past that may have been seen as lacking may be better than it was, but enuff about me, which show was definitive for you ... and thanks in advance for any feedback :)

They are different styles of shows and comedies so hard to compare. I watched friends all the way through and enjoyed it then but once was enough. Seinfeld i just loved the humour and could easily watch again.

I watched plenty of both and found Seinfeld to be wayyyyy better. Friends was just too "pie in the face" comedy for me. Seinfeld was more of a humorous exaggeration of everyday life that was able to get me to laugh more than Friends ever would.

I'm a big Seinfeld fan. Never made it through more than a minute or two of Friends. Seemed really obvious and stupid. And when I say Seinfeld, I mean Larry David.

@hunkalove You must like Curb Your Enthusiasm too! :)

I wanted to "like" both Seinfeld and Friends, but neither show ever did it for me. I didn't like the characters on Seinfeld, and Friends was not sufficiently witty or clever for me, i.e., every episode with the title of "The One _____ ... " . The British sitcom "Coupling" was/is much better.

The problem with character driven comedy is that you need to see character growth.
You can't keep rooting for the 'loser' because it gets old very quickly.
And for me, both did.

@Picklebobble2 From what i know Friends was the more character driven of the two, but i fail to see how that would make it better.

@SW-User Because they just go round and round in the same cycle of attempt and loss and poor me.
If you could see growth. If you could see improvement. You'd keep rooting for the characters.
I prefer Seinfeld. I couldn’t stand friends. Mainly because of jennifer what’s her face. She was so insufferable. Ross too.

Friends sucked. Seinfeld was good. That’s my in depth analysis 😎
I like Seinfeld more.

Friends. I like both, though. The two shows are sooo different. And, neither show batted 1000.
