I Dreamed A Dream

I dreamed we were still in the EU and none of the Brexit has happened. We were a big family where Polish people brought their skiils and their families. And Welsh students could go freely to work in the Med. Oh please let us vote. We couldn’t back then. You wouldn’t let us!

I don’t think anyone has a problem with Polish people bringing their skills, or for that matter, any other Nationality, the main issue is Economic Migrants arriving and DEMANDING benefits that they’re not entitled to because they haven’t paid into the benefits pot via taxes

I agree. Because benefits are not the same across the EU. Perhaps they should be. And health. Either we’re one Europe or we a million different bits. We even had people from England coming to Wales for prescriptions. Driving over the bridge. Til our government tightened up the law. @BigGuy2

That’s part of the problem, our Governments clamp down on things like prescriptions when English people do it, but won’t clamp down on foreigners doing it @WelshGirl

I know. It’s why we need one law across Europe. It’s no good pretending we are a Union! We ain’t. And the UK is just a facade. We ain’t united. We could be. We are one group of islands. We have loads of different cultures. But we have no leaders. Just peolle playing at politics. @BigGuy2

@WelshGirl It's because The Scottish and Welsh get their NHS subsidised by England... We don't get the little benefits here.

So... One system across Europe?

Would that be our system they adopted, or their system that we would have to adopt?

Because if we adopted theirs it would be goodbye to the NHS, and everyone would have to buy insurance like they do in America and Europe, because we would be charged for every single thing done. Every medication consumed. And it would not matter if you were below 18 or above retirement age you would have to pay for prescriptions. And those wouldn't be £8.80 anymore. You most likely be paying full price.

And, of course there is no guarantee the insurance will pay out for your condition leaving you to foot the full bill...

And England get their water by flooding Welsh villages to make reservoirs. But I hope we will never get petty about such trivial things. After all we want UK to mean united. Even if we ain’t! @Quizzical

@WelshGirl Empty villages... It's not like people are being drowned, and the land will no doubt have been paid for.
WelshGirl · 22-25, F
It’s about communities. Some cultures understand that. Some don’t. Some can live in flats in a city. Some can’t. We have an island where there are very different cultures and no attempt to understand each other. Just a dominant culture. And a subservient one. But the subservient one will become restless. Like my grandfather who tore down English road signs. It worked btw. Our road signs are in my language now. @Quizzical

@WelshGirl So, this is actually more about Welsh Nationalism than Brexit?
WelshGirl · 22-25, F
You started the English Welsh thing. I want to be European. No, I want to be a citizen of the universe. @Quizzical
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@WelshGirl No, you want to be a citizen of a universe where everything works out exactly as YOU want it to.

Real life isn't like that...
