I Walk My Own Path
I am the walking wolf
I am not wounded
Tonight was ushered in by a beautiful day
I touchdown back at my birthright
I carry myself upwards and onwards
Through the sun dripped ferns and brightly paved streets
Automobiles whirl past
I have chosen to walk
I scurry by the white line just a guide under the fat faced moon
Crickets and toads harmonize my trek
They are surely singing to me
My journey takes me past my grandparents graves
This is not sadness, but a celebration and a remembrance as I chose this path.
Hopefully they can hear my panting as I scurry past and the snap of branches underfoot.
I am just a wolf traveling onwards
I am not wounded
I am not wounded
Tonight was ushered in by a beautiful day
I touchdown back at my birthright
I carry myself upwards and onwards
Through the sun dripped ferns and brightly paved streets
Automobiles whirl past
I have chosen to walk
I scurry by the white line just a guide under the fat faced moon
