I Believe We Should Understand Human Nature

“I wish they stayed”, she sighs.
When does that change?
Pin point to the exact moment you had that feeling towards someone, and when that changed.
It is as if we fall in love with an image in our head, an illusion of who we THINK a person to be.
But let’s be real.
You don’t know who a person is until you live 24 hours a day with them, for a very long time, if ever.
And what you do come to realize is that this ideal you had of them, this person you admired and placed on a pedestal is a human being.
And human being means, just like you and me.
With set ways.
With the desire to mold every person, place, thing, or idea their way.
Who gets angry at your contradiction to their statement.
Who no matter how hard you try, you can’t make happy, until they find satisfaction within their own selves independent of you.
Who speaks and expects you to want to listen in that moment with nods coming from your head or “uh huhs”.
Who talks about what they perceive or have perceived, what they want, and now have a suggestion of what you “should” do now.
We all sleep when we’re tired.
We all eat when we’re hungry.
And you know the rest.
We are all human.
We have so many ideals, so many cliches, so many fairytales we have made ourselves believe.
And it is only as adults, after a repeated pattern of the same thing, that we come to the conclusion that life and people are not what we were taught them to be.
