If your boys expressed a desire to join the military what branch would you steer them towards and why?

Navy or Air Force. Navy gets a bed surrounded by armor plating and missile launchers. Plus, you get to sail the seas and see the world.

Air Force gets a base and only the pilots really go into danger. The rest stay behind and make sure the planes can do their job.

Kind of depends on their interests. I was air force and enjoyed it. Got a good technical training that payed off in the civilian market. I have two nephews who went marine as was my younger brother, they all enjoyed the challenge. If it's a physical challenge they want marines or army infantry are good choices. Tech types might want to go air force or navy.

Air Force, and that would include girls if I had any

I spent time in the Air Force, both active and reserves. Great experiences. But all the services are great and I'd love to also have spent time in the Coast Guard. Let them follow their own noses and suggest they peek into all of them to see what has a greatest appeal.

Knowing very little about the military, I’d have to say the Navy. Seems the chances of getting killed or injured are far lower.

That's what I've been leaning towards@LyricalOne

Marines. Family tradition

Whatever they are inclined towards.
Air Force will better prepare you for life after the military.

Three hot meals daily, clean sheets at night.

It's harder to make rank/pay raises but the comforts make up for that.

I was Army Infantry in Vietnam. NO Fun!

I'm a mom I want them safe. They both want to do something mechanical like working on trucks or helicopters or the like.@iamBen
