The Hong kongers have guts. They care about how their home is more and more coming under the influence of the PRC. I do not endorse violence but I deeply respect their concern and love for their home. Currently it is reported that at least 20 people have been injured in clashes with police. I hope there will not be more.

@novembermoon International community should stand by their side, but I am afraid being in good terms with the powerful bully will prevail 😕

@Cierzo I think the PRC has warned others not to interfere. It is quite a cultural thing. The paternalistic nature of the PRC and how it deals with HK is very clear. In a Chinese family, if there is no harmony, the parent would not hesitate to take tough actions to force the child into submission. It is a sign of weakness to relent. For the Chinese, there is nothing more humiliating than to have to wash such dirty linen in public.
The PRC must realise that HK is different from it in many ways. It is not a decorative plant that it can transplant passively into its territory. It is a strong weed that will not succumb to artificial pruning.

@novembermoon PRC does not accept differences gladly. Look at Taiwan too.
