the bruises and skinned knees are all part of growing up.. what you loved to do as a kid is the same things the kids now love to do. we want to stifle that fun because we are afraid they will get hurt.. did you worry about getting hurt when you were that child? :) put all your socks on and go skating with the kids mom :)

@RedtheEmerald lol we all did these things as a kid.. and lived to talk about it.. not only talk about it but looked back at it fondly

@SW-User as a busy mom I'd much rather hear the sound of bare feet pattering than the cries of slipped kids

@SandraB I do understand that.. but politely disagree with the sentiment. sometimes we need to let kids be kids. just my thought.. not judging :)

At school we werent allowed to slide, but we did. Until age 12 had to change from outdoors shoes into plimsolls as shoes weren't allowed kn school.
When we got the chance we took plimsolls off and went sliding
At home, none of us walk around im socks as the wooden floors are extremely slippy.

We are always barefoot at home. It's safe and more comfortable. I really dislike the look of people walking around in dirty loose germy socks.
