I Have An Unpopular Opinion

I never understood why people see it as a badge of honor to work a lot of hours or spend most of their time working. It’s sad. I mean, cool, you’re a “hard worker”. But I personally wouldn’t want to waste my only life working all the time 🤷‍♀️ It seems like such a waste to slave away at some job.

And don’t worry, I do provide for myself and I’m not on government funds. I’m good. I just refuse to work a lot.

Sometimes large salaries come with time sacrifice. I am blessed to choose my own schedule and work around children and my other families' schedules to be able to spend a lot of time with them. I think it is what makes you happy. Some people have jobs that make them happy and they enjoy working lots of hours. I love my job but not enough to give up my life outside of it.

I can go along with that. I used to work 14 hours a day and was on call for 24. It was a pain in the ass but I thought that is what a person was supposed to do to show loyalty. After ten years of that I got burned out and took a grunge job and loved it. Now I have my own consulting business and only work 1-2 days a week. Semi-retired since 45 and now 65 and loving it.
