@Greenbare It is a weird phenomena. Unknown actor gets a tv part of a character 50+ years old; gets to do 8-10 episodes per season; does two maybe three series then moves on to other gigs, never to be seen again !

@Greenbare Not my scene these days. Was back in the '70's when it was one of the few sci-fi-ish series on television, and i was too young to know of better.
I often get the feeling it's become one of those famous 'English eccentricities' that the BBC likes to maintain.
