I Am From Louisiana

Almost 9 months ago there was a massive flood in my area. It was very unexpected and frightening. I was forced from my house by the flood waters. The only place to go was my grandma's house. We thought we'd be safe in there since it is on stilts and 9 feet off the ground. We became trapped there for 3 or 4 days while the waters kept rising. By the second day we began to feel that maybe we weren't as safe as we thought we were. The water was getting dangerously close to getting inside. But luckily it finally stopped raining and we were safe but unfortunately my home was damaged from the flood. I had to stay at my aunt's house while it was being repaired. It has been a very long and stressful 9 months but finally I feel my life returning to normal again. My house is as good as new now and I've moved back in and it feels so good to be home. Now all I have to worry about is HURRICANE SEASON 馃尙馃槺馃う

Louisiana is definitely a flood plain, at or below sea level and add to that you get a butt load of rain. I am in Amarillo, Texas. Rain here makes the papers.

As a former NOLA resident and having experienced hurricanes I wish you the best through the rest of the year
