I Know There Are Good People In This World
When bad things happen, especially when those things are senseless and happen to innocent people, it's tempting to see the world as a dark and ugly place. I won't deny that plenty of darkness and ugliness exist, but the truth is that for every fanatical monster who makes it their mission in life to murder innocent people for nothing, there's at least one really good person who makes it their mission in life to help people. For everyone who goes around tearing things down, there's someone else who goes around trying to build things up.
I was reading a fantasy book years ago, and one of the characters in it was talking to this creature. He was feeling really disheartened, and telling the creature something like "I keep trying to do good, but every time I turn a corner I find someone else trying to tear everything down. No matter what I do, evil endures." And the creature looks at him and says something that I'll never forget. It says "Silly human - so does good."
