I Know There Are Good People In This World
A good person takes responsibility for the things that are their responsibility. They don't schluff those responsibilities off onto other people. A good person cares about the effect their actions have on other people. A good person has a reasonably well developed ability to put themselves into other people's shoes and practice empathy.
I think at the heart of it - being a good person means putting in the effort. Putting in the effort to try and figure out how to navigate a world that doesn't always make sense. Putting in the effort to do better. Putting in the effort to be a good friend, a good partner, a good parent - whatever your cup of tea is. It means taking the time to get it right, even if you fall down sometimes.
And on an even more primal, basic level: being a good person means wanting to be a good person - Not just giving lip-service to it, or trying to *seem* like a good person to others - but actually wanting to be good, and being willing to put in the effort to make it happen.
