A Christmas question: My strange neighbor across the hall has scotch taped a branch of (once live) holly to her door and now it is dead. Questionbelow

Should I give her my old wreath? Her holly branch is sooooo ugly. It smells like mold and is dropping dead leaves on the carpet. Do you think she would be offended?

You could always casually ask if she wants it.Just say it was an extra and you didnt want to throw it away?
So you thought she might like it.

You could always yank that dead holly down and stomp on it. Then you could say " oh my gosh look at your holly. Here I have an extra wreath you can have."

@SW-User I looked it up, to see if it had some weird significance, and it does. It is used to ward off evil spirits.
And she is a member of the spiritualist church. They call spirits.

@4meAndyou yeee, my aunt does that type of stuff so I was wondering if had something to do with that.
You could still offer her the wreathe though, then she could decorate her door up a bit more and keep the weird ritual she has going on.

@SW-User Yeah, I don't know about the hoo doo or whatever it is. Poor lady. She's fat and ugly and very weird. When she first moved here she used to sit in her living room with her door open which used to freak me out, too. I don't like having people stare at me when I walk into my apartment.

She normally decorates her door with the weirdest stuff. Before the holly she had a huge long string of bells from India and a bunch of purple spider webs. But at least that stuff doesn't smell and drop leaves.

I would just let her know that you have an extra wreath if she wants to hang it on her door due to the holy is starting to fall apart. If you don't know her that well maybe it can help you get to know her better. Hopefully she well be fine with your offer and maybe happy as well but don't let the fear of making her upset keep you from trying to be nice. Just my thoughts.

Contact the landlord! That's what I would do (and are supposed to). We got a detailed list (called a lease) of "do nots" this spring along with the rent raise. No loud noise after 10:30 - and that's when I go to bed and that's when the first floor (right above my head) decide to play records or the radio loud enough for me to hear. I can't count the number of times I've climbed out of bed and yelled to the ceiling (their living room floor) "TURN IT DOWN!"

@MaryJanine I haven't gone to defcon 1 at this time.

I'm not sure what that means - but we aren't allowed to put stuff out (for some reason) and you don't want the landlord to say it's YOUR fault if the dried-up holly draws bugs or vermin.

My younger brother just had the gas company come to read his meter because the reading was a problem. The landlord was there when the company came and it was discovered the gas line was directly on top of the water line. His landlord turned to my brother and asked him, "So what did you do to cause this?"

The man from the company said, "It's not his fault. The landlord is supposed to handle something like this." He got a ticket and a warning message to have it fixed within a month. My brother brought the official message to the landlord when he received it in the mail. The landlord's reply was, "Well, I just had a contractor in here. It cost me $100.00, and he said nothing was wrong with it."

This is why I recommended you go talk to the landlord.
Maybe it's not holly. Maybe it's nightshade and is absorbing all the unpleasant auras in the building.

Lol, that is a shame. Maybe put a nice new one up for her and say "From Santa"

@CathyUK If it weren't for the cameras, perhaps I would. BUT...one of the responders below suggested she may have put the ugly, dead, moldy leaf dropping thing up for a reason...possibly to repel evil spirits!!!!She is a member of the spiritualist religion, and holly leaves are put up by pagans to repel evil spirits!!! I know, right? I am wondering if Lysol can repel evil smells.

I would think that she would accept it. Just tell her it's in the spirit of Christmas!😀

I think it's a nice suggestion.
Mind your business
