I have a brother with Autism but I don't think I could work with other adults with developmental disabilities. I don't feel like I've ever completely grasped how to communicate with him and I've found that it can be very frustrating. I don't know if I'd want my job to depend on it.

Fair answer! It is very difficult at times.

How did you get into it..did you just answer an ad or is it something you were curious about?

It's the only kind of work I can imagine myself doing.

SW-User
That is wonderful! Are you currently doing it?
CheshireCatalyst · 41-45, M

Thanks very much! It's good to finally find your "niche." Even if it doesn't become apparent until you are 46!

Thank you! It's really tough, but I do like how I feel at the end of the day (OK, most days), lol.

I feel that's all I did as a cop

I can imagine so. There are a lot of untreated people out there.
