I have a coffee machine at home that makes nicer coffee

Not just Monday, it's a treat any time. Quick Chek coffee is the best, but I like Dunkin Donuts, too. I won't go to Starbucks.

I'd only use those chains if I had no choice.

I far prefer independent tea-rooms and cafes, and object to paying over the odds for what is either just plain coffee, or coffee-flavoured milk froth, with a pretentious pseudo-Italian name.

On my occasional, long motorway journeys, I use the service-stations' toilets but not their over-priced, gimmick-ridden shops and cafeterias. Instead I take a flask of hot water and some instant coffee, milk, sugar and food.

No. I don't like that kind of stuff. I make my own breakfasts.

Coffee doesn't really cheer me up

No, the only time I’ve done that is while on vacation away from home or when the electricity has gone off in the house.
