I think one of it's benefits is in counting.The two hands have 10 fingers together.So it forms a decimal system.Isn't it easier this way?

because gloves have 5 fingers. if you had more or less , all the gloves would have to be thrown away.

We have 4 fingers on each hand because thumbs don't count as fingers.
